Gogebic County man sentenced for delivering meth, his 6th felony conviction

Todd Smith

BESSEMER, MI— An Ironwood man has been sentenced in Gogebic County Circuit Court on a delivery of meth charge.

Todd Smith, 52, was sentenced Wednesday to 8 to 20 years in prison.

It stems from an investigation by the Gogebic-Iron Area Narcotics Team last July. GIANT used a confidential informant to purchase meth from Smith at his Ironwood residence. Smith delivered 0.24 grams of the drug, which was turned over to GIANT.

At the time of his arrest, Smith was found to be in possession of 2.95 grams of meth.

It was Smith’s 6th felony conviction and he was on extended supervision out of Wisconsin for convictions of possession of narcotic drugs and operating with restricted controlled substances, 5th offense.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
