Man involved in Niagara overdose death sentenced to 18 years in prison

MARINETTE, WI— An Iron Mountain man has been sentenced for the 2021 overdose death of man in Marinette County.

Brady Peeters, 28, was convicted this past January of 1st-degree reckless homicide, as party to a crime, for delivering fentanyl that caused the death of Casey Ashburn in Niagara.

He was sentenced Tuesday to 18 years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision.

Peeters was also sentenced in October of 2024 for possession with intent to deliver narcotic drugs, second and subsequent offense for a March, 2021 incident. He is currently serving an 8-year sentence in that case.

The sentence for reckless homicide will be served consecutive to the sentence for possession with intent to deliver fentanyl.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
