Calumet suspect pleads 'no contest' to criminal sexual conduct with victims under 13

HOUGHTON, MI— A Calumet man faces up to 15 years in prison for criminal sexual conduct with minors.

Chad Just, 41, was arrested last year on charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct—person under 13 from incidents that happened in August of 2022. He was in jail when the Houghton County Sheriff's Office learned of another victim from an incident that happened in January of 2025.

The two cases were combined.

Just pleaded no contest Monday to two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct—person under 13. A charge of fourth-degree CSC—victim between 13-16 was dismissed.

Sentencing is set for June 17 in Houghton County Circuit Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
