Menominee County man who led police on chase reaching speeds of 110 miles per hour sentenced

Travis Thiry

MENOMINEE, MI— A Daggett man will spend up to 5 years in prison for second-degree fleeing and eluding a police officer.

In October of 2024, a deputy from the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office tried to stop a Dodge Ram pickup truck on County Road 358 in Lake Township. The vehicle accelerated to speeds of 105 to 110 miles per hour for more than a mile and a half with its headlights off.

The driver, Travis Thiry, 44, fled on foot and was later arrested. He was sentenced April 14 to 23 months to 5 years in prison.

Thiry also faces additional, unrelated felony charges. He’ll return to Menominee from the Michigan Department of Corrections to face them at a later date.
