Jury finds Ishpeming man guilty on all counts of criminal sexual conduct

MARQUETTE, MI— An Ishpeming man charged with criminal sexual conduct across five cases has been found guilty, following a four-day trial.

Gerald Burton, 35, faced a total of nine charges, including four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct resulting in personal injury, one count of first-degree CSC—injury to an incapacitated victim, two counts of third-degree CSC—involving force or coercion, and two counts of fourth-degree CSC—involving force or coercion.

He was on trial for all five cases.

Thursday afternoon, a jury found Burton guilty on all charges. A sentencing date has not yet been set.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
