4- to 7-year sentence handed down to Baraga man who pleaded to meth charge

BARAGA, MI— A Baraga County man has been sentenced for delivery of meth.

Lawrence Dowd, 40, pleaded guilty to the charge in May. In exchange, prosecutors dismissed a fourth habitual offender status.

Dowd was on probation out of Ontonagon County when he was arrested in Baraga County last November on the meth charge.

He was sentenced Tuesday to 50 to 85 months in prison. Dowd was credited with 122 days already served.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
