Chippewa County man convicted of sexually abusing 9-year-old

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— A 30-year-old Chippewa County man has been convicted of sexually abusing a 9-year-old child.

Aaron Lehre was found guilty by jury Thursday of three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. The first three counts involve sexual penetration, while the last count involves sexual contact.

Lehre was accused of repeatedly assaulting the victim between February 28, 2024 and February 28, 2025.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 13 in 50th Circuit Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
