MENOMINEE, MI— A Menominee man will spend up to 10 years in prison for possessing meth and receiving a stolen firearm.
Shane Konell, 51, was caught by police last October while trying to flee in a taxi from a local hotel. Menominee County Prosecutor Jeffrey Rogg says Konell had been using illegal drugs with co-conspirator Jeffrey Donner.
At the time of his arrest, Konell had meth and a .32 caliber pistol in his possession. He also had property stolen from a Menominee residence. It was taken when the 69-year-old homeowner was undergoing medical treatment at a nursing home.
Konell was sentenced to 5 to 10 years in prison for each charge. They will be served concurrently.
