MENOMINEE, MI— A Daggett man has been sentenced for leading police on a high-speed chase through Menominee County last year.
On July 1, a deputy tried to stop Troy Hummel, 37, who was riding a motorcycle on US-41 near Belgiumtown Road. Hummel fled the scene and reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.
The chase continued for 17 minutes down residential streets through heavily populated areas. Hummel forced dozens of cars off the road before he was eventually apprehended at the Cenex gas station in Stephenson. Police discovered he had no motorcycle insurance and his license was revoked.
Hummel was sentenced Friday to 2 to 10 years in prison for third-degree fleeing and eluding police as a habitual third offender.
