MARQUETTE, MI— The Marquette trial of Julie Boxley has ended in a hung jury.
The 54-year-old is accused of setting a fire that killed Ishpeming resident Glenn Andrews, 72, in March of 2023. She’s charged with first-degree homicide and first-degree arson.
The jury started deliberating on Tuesday, then paused a couple of times because they were deadlocked. The jury finally sent a note to Judge Andrew Griffin Thursday stating, “We unanimously agree we are hopelessly deadlocked.” Griffin declared a mistrial.
The prosecution could decide to try the case again at a later date.
