MENOMINEE, MI— An Iron Mountain man has been sentenced to 8 to 15 years in prison for first-degree criminal sexual conduct, person under 13.
Menominee County Prosecutor Jeffrey Rogg says the 12-year-old victim told sheriff’s deputies that Blaine Smeester, 28, had sexually assaulted her a number of times at her home in the northern part of the county.
Investigation revealed Smeester had groomed the child. He eventually admitted to numerous acts of penetration.
Smeester agreed to a plea deal in July. He was sentenced September 4 in 41st Circuit Court. Rogg says the plea deal took into consideration that the victim didn’t want to testify.
