Meth lab discovered in vehicle at Mackinac Bridge

ST. IGNACE, MI--   State Police from the St. Ignace Post have arrested two people at the Mackinac Bridge for having a meth lab in their vehicle.

Troopers stopped the car Tuesday morning near the tolls for a cracked windshield and smelled what they thought was marijuana.  The 29-year-old male driver and his 21-year-old female passenger said they’d been smoking synthetic marijuana, but when troopers searched the vehicle they found packets of methamphetamine, syringes, meth-making chemicals, and bottles of a mixture that suggested the suspects were making the drug inside the vehicle.

The driver and passenger—both from Michigan—are lodged in the Mackinac County Jail on charges of possession, delivery, and the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Officials requested the assistance of the Michigan State Police Meth Team for clean-up, then contacted a hazmat team to dispose of the chemicals.
