Levack sentenced to life in prison

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI--   A Kingsford man convicted of murdering an 81-year-old woman who was set to testify against him in a larceny case has been sentenced.

David Levack, 44, was given life in prison without the possibility of parole Monday.  He was found guilty in Iron County Circuit Court last month of killing Joyce Johnson of Stambaugh Township.  Her body was found in her home after she failed to show in court as a witness.

The guilty verdict was reached the day Johnson would have turned 82.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
