Manistique troopers search for debit card thief

HIAWATHA TOWNSHIP, MI--   Michigan State Police from the Manistique detachment are searching for suspects in a Hiawatha Township breaking-and-entering early Friday morning.

Troopers say someone broke into a home on Riverview Drive around 3 a.m., took a large amount of cash, and also stole the homeowner’s ATM/debit card.  The card was later used at ATMs at the Manistique Federal Credit Union and Wells Fargo around 3:30.

The victim’s family has set up a $1,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest of the person or people responsible.  Those with information are asked to call State Police in Manistique at 643-7582.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
