Prelim set for Ishpeming pair involved in stabbing

MARQUETTE, MI--   A preliminary hearing has been set for two people charged in a Marquette stabbing this week.

Nineteen-year-old Ishpeming residents Danny Weymouth and Taylor Mitchell are accused of getting into a fight with Zachary Skinner, 19, of Marquette Monday morning at Skinner’s home.  During the fight Mitchell allegedly stabbed Skinner in the head, leg, and back.  He was treated at Marquette General Hospital and released.

Weymouth and Mitchell are both charged with conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance.  Mitchell is also charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.

A preliminary exam is set for July 2 in Marquette District Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
