Charges brought in Luce County home invasion/robbery

NEWBERRY, MI--   Four Newberry residents have been arrested in connection with a break-in and robbery at a Luce County home.

Troopers from the Newberry Post were dispatched early Wednesday morning to the residence on County Road 405.  The occupants said several people wearing dark clothing had broken into the house and held a man at knifepoint, then took prescription drugs.  The suspects fled the scene, causing the victim minor injuries.

Arrested are Teresa Kinney, 32, Markus Kinney, 18, and Zachary Sturgeon, 21, —all of Newberry.  All are charged with first-degree home invasion and assault with intent to rob while armed.

A juvenile suspect was also apprehended and has been arraigned as an adult on the same charges.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
