Negaunee man pleads in vet hospital vandalism case

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Negaunee man charged with breaking into a Harvey veterinary office and vandalizing it has pleaded guilty to the charge. 

Thomas Richer, 22, is accused of calling Central Dispatch June 3, saying he may have been involved in breaking into the Bayshore Veterinary Hospital.  When officers arrived at the building they discovered an intoxicated and injured Richer and found the upstairs heavily vandalized. 

Richer pleaded guilty Tuesday to malicious destruction of property, punishable by up to a year in jail.  A sentencing date has not yet been set. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
