Trial underway for Alger County man accused of manslaughter

MUNISING, MI--   The trial of an Alger County man accused of unintentionally killing a woman at a hunting camp last year begins Tuesday. 

Thomas Murdock, 48, allegedly backed over Lisa Ann Hardwick, 44, with his pickup truck at the camp in Au Train Township last June.  She suffered fatal injuries. 

Murdock is charged with involuntary manslaughter, driving while intoxicated-3rdoffense, and possession of marijuana.  He faces up to 15 years in prison, if convicted. 

Murdock’s trial, which is expected to last three days, starts Tuesday with jury selection in Alger County Circuit Court. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
