Witch Lake man arrested for stealing women's clothing.

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Marquette County man in connection with the theft of women’s undergarments and swim wear.

Deputies say they continue to investigate at least eight incidents in which the clothing was taken from clothes lines at camps on Witch Lake in Republic Township.  In two other cases the clothing was taken from vehicles.

On Friday deputies executed a search warrant on the Witch Lake residence of a 48-year-old man who is a registered sex offender.  They were able to connect the suspect to at least ten stolen property reports.  The man was arrested and lodged in the Marquette County Jail.  His name has not been released, pending arraignment.

Deputies say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.  Anyone who has had female clothing or other items stolen in the area is asked to call Detective Lieutenant Stephen Kangas at the Sheriff’s Office at 225-8470.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
