Anderson pleads to making meth in car

ST. IGNACE, MI--   A downstate man has pleaded guilty to operating a methamphetamine lab in his vehicle.

Joseph Anderson, 29, of Middleville and his passenger, Samantha Keith, 21, had just crossed the Mackinac Bridge June 5 when they were stopped for a cracked windshield.  Officers thought they smelled marijuana, but a search of the vehicle uncovered packets of methamphetamine, syringes, meth-making chemicals, and bottles of a mixture that suggested the suspects were making the drug inside the vehicle.

Anderson pleaded guilty to operating a meth lab.  Sentencing is set for October 25 in Mackinac County Court.

A pre-trial conference for is set for October 5 for Keith, who is also charged with operating a meth lab.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
