Meth fire in Marquette Township

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Michigan State Police are investigating a brush fire in connection with a meth production site.

The Marquette Township Fire Department was called to a wooded area off of Forestville Road around 8:00 Friday morning and found meth manufacturing components at the fire scene.  They notified troopers from the Negaunee Post, who say the 1,000-square-foot fire likely started from an attempt to “cook” methamphetamine.

A State Police meth clean-up team responded to the scene and secured the components and other hazardous materials.

Troopers have no suspects at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.
