Downstate shooting suspect apprehended

WIXOM, MI (AP)--   Authorities say a 43-year-old man arrested in a four-county shooting spree in Michigan is being charged with crimes in Livingston County.

Raulie Casteel will be arraigned Wednesday in Howell, 55 miles northwest of Detroit. His identity was provided by an investigator who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak before the court hearing.
More charges are expected elsewhere this week.

Casteel was arrested Monday in Wixom. He's suspected in 24 shootings, mostly involving moving cars in communities near Interstate 96. One person was injured.

The shootings occurred October 16 through 18, then stopped until October 27.

Casteel has described himself online as a geologist with experience in environmental cleanup. His Twitter feed is deeply critical of President Barack Obama.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
