Ishpeming man arrested following two-vehicle accident in Negaunee

NEGAUNEE - An Ishpeming man is jailed following a two-vehicle accident in Negaunee. State Police say the accident happened at about 3pm Monday at US-41 and Baldwin Street. Troopers say the 31-year old man was driving a 2003 Ford pick-up when he struck a 2006 Buick. The driver of the Buick, 67 year old Robert Morrison of Negaunee, was not injured in the accident. The suspect was treated at the scene for a non-life threatening head injury. The suspect was arrested for operating while intoxicated… possession of a firearm while intoxicated… and possession of open alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Shortly before the accident, central dispatch received a call alerting them to the suspect’s erratic driving.

The suspect was lodged in the Marquette County jail, and his name is being withheld pending arraignment.
