Trial set for accused Alpha embezzler

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI--   An Iron County man is headed to trial for embezzling from the Village of Alpha. 

Thirty-four-year-old Nicholas Rickman is accused of diverting the money between March and August of this year while he worked as a clerk with the village.  

Rickman has pleaded not guilty to three counts of forgery, three counts of uttering and publishing, embezzlement by a public official-over $50 and public officer-embezzlement or diversion of taxes or public moneys. 

Rickman faces up to 99 years in prison if convicted as charged.  Trial is set for the end of February in Iron County Circuit Court. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
