Mitchell sent to jail for stabbing

MARQUETTE, MI--   An Ishpeming woman who pleaded guilty to stabbing a Marquette man in June has been sentenced to jail.

Taylor Mitchell, 19, was arrested after she and her boyfriend, Danny Weymouth, 19, got into a fight with Zachary Skinner, 19, on June 18 at Skinner’s home.  Skinner was stabbed in the head, back, and leg.

Mitchell was arrested for conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, assault with a dangerous weapon, and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.  She pleaded guilty in November to assault with a dangerous weapon and was sentenced Friday to one year in jail with credit for 172 days already served.  All other charges were dropped.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
