Carney-Nadeau student brings butcher knife to school

CARNEY, MI--   A Carney-Nadeau 7th grade student is in custody, after he reportedly brought a butcher knife to school.

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Department says it received a call around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday on a report that the boy said he was going to kill another student.

The Iron Mountain Daily News reports when deputies arrived the student had been secured in an office.  The knife—which had an 8-inch blade—had been placed in another office.

Deputies are praising the students who reported the incident to school officials and the staff who took action.

The case is being forwarded to the Menominee County Prosecutor’s Office.
