Wakefield troopers arrest couple for property destruction, other charges

ONTONAGON COUNTY, MI--   Police found more than they bargained for when they arrested two Ontonagon County residents for malicious destruction of property.

Tuesday around 9:10 a.m. troopers from the Wakefield Post served felony warrants for MDOP between $1,000 and $20,000 on the male and female suspects.  The woman was arrested immediately, but she claimed the man was not in the house.  When troopers heard noises they found the male suspect hiding in the attic.

Further investigation revealed a hidden room containing equipment used to manufacture marijuana.  After troopers executed a search warrant they found a marijuana growing operation.

Both suspects remain lodged in the Ontonagon County Jail.  Charges are pending review of evidence.  Their names are being withheld, pending arraignment.
