Michigan man arrested for murder in North Dakota

WILLIAMS COUNTY, ND--   An Iron River man is charged with murder, following the stabbing death of a friend in North Dakota.  

The Detroit Free Press reports Ryan Anderson, 31, and Christopher King, 32, also of Iron River, worked together at an oil field crew camp in Northwestern North Dakota. 

The men had reportedly been drinking early Sunday morning when King tried to stop a fight between Anderson and his girlfriend.  Anderson is accused of stabbing king four times then driving him to a Tioga hospital, where King was pronounced dead of a knife wound to the heart.

Anderson is charged with murder and attempted murder for allegedly trying to stab another man during the argument.  He remains jailed on a $1 million bond and is due back in court April 9. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
