Update: Woman freed, uninjured after being held hostage by her husband

According to the Escanaba Daily Press, the suspect is identified as 62-year old John Joseph Sarasin. The second man arrested is identified as 64-year old Daryl John Sarasin.

Escanaba, MI -

An Escanaba Township man is under arrest after Delta County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a man with a gun who was holding his wife hostage. Deputies and police officers from several other agencies  were dispatched to the scene on  County Road 416 in Flat Rock yesterday (Tuesday) at 5:40pm where they set up a perimeter around the home. The Michigan State Police Hostage Negotiator and Emergency Support Team were also called in. At about 8:30pm, officers were able to get the 64-year old female hostage safely out of the residence. She was not injured in the incident and is identified as the wife of the suspect. At 2:30am this morning (Wednesday) the hostage negotiator was able to talk the 62-year old suspect out of the house without further incident. The suspect was taken into custody and is lodged in the Delta County Jail. He is charged with unlawful imprisonment, a 15 year felony, and assault with a dangerous weapon-felonious assault, a 4-year felony.

Deputies also say that a 64-year old man was also arrested at the scene for obstructing.
