MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help from the public in identifying a man and woman who may have witnessed the theft of a purse.

The purse was inadvertently left in a cart in the Wal-Mart parking lot last Wednesday around 4:30 p.m.  It contained a substantial amount of cash.

Deputies say a light-colored Chevy Impala missing a left front wheel cover parked next to the cart where the purse was left.  The same vehicle was later captured on video at the Marquette Target store, where it parked next to a cart for a few moments, then left.

The purse was subsequently found in that cart by a Target employee.  The cash was missing.

Anyone with information as to who the witnesses are or the owner of the vehicle is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 225-8434 or the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 225-8441.
