Police foil burglary attempt in Ishpeming

ISHPEMING, MI--   Ishpeming Police caught a would-be burglar in the act Tuesday.  

Officers were called around 1:20 a.m. on a silent alarm to Elaine’s Place.  Upon arrival they found James William Haack, 33, of Marquette inside the store.  Burglar tools were also found at the scene. 

Haack is charged with breaking and entering a building with intent and possession of burglar’s tools.  Both are punishable by up to ten years in prison. 

A preliminary exam is set for September 17 in Marquette County District Court.

Haack remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail on a $20,000 cash bond.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
