Marquette Police dogs receive safety equipment

MARQUETTE, MI--   K9 officers with the Marquette Police Department will be safer while on patrol, thanks to the donation of vests from a Massachusetts company.

The vests will protect K9s Frodo and Scud from bullet and stab wounds and blunt force trauma.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is an all-volunteer charity whose mission is to provide protective vests for law enforcement dogs throughout the U.S.  The charity recently donated 217 of the $950 vests to departments around the country.

The Marquette donation was made possible through the efforts of Marquette County Central Dispatch operator Lori Fries.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
