Man hits Ishpeming school with Jeep

ISHPEMING, MI--   An Ishpeming man has been arrested for crashing his vehicle into a school building.

Witnesses say the vehicle had been southbound on Third Street at a high rate of speed when the driver suddenly hit the brakes and struck the building.

Police located the 29-year-old driver at his home on New York Street and took him into custody.  The suspect was lodged at the Marquette County Jail for operating under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of an accident, and attempted resisting and obstructing police.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
