Lake Linden man sentenced on CSC charges

Daily Mining Gazette

HOUGHTON, MI - A Lake Linden man has been sentenced on sexual assault charges in Houghton County Circuit Court. The ‘Daily Mining Gazette’ reports 27-year old Chad LaPointe pleaded ‘no contest’ to fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct with a girl at least 13 years old but younger than 16. The charge is a two-year high misdemeanor that carries a sentence of 2-to-17 months to be served in the county jail. A 15-year second-degree CSC charge and two other charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. He received credit for 195 days already served.

LaPointe must also move to Wisconsin upon release. If he returns to the area, charges will be brought against him.

In September, LaPointe was sentenced to nine months in jail for failing to register as a sex offender.
