Former Delta County Republican jailed

ESCANABA, MI (AP)--   A Michigan Republican State Committee member facing charges in Wisconsin has been jailed in the Upper Peninsula on other charges.

The Detroit Free Press says 51-year-old Doug Sedenquist missed a Tuesday court hearing in Green Bay because he was in custody in Delta County. The Escanaba man was arrested last week on charges including extortion and using a computer to commit a crime.

In Wisconsin, he faces charges of disobeying police, sending a threat and disorderly conduct. They stem from a March incident in which authorities say Sedenquist was involved in an armed standoff with officers who were responding to his suicide threat.

Sedenquist also had been Delta County Republican vice chairman and has worked in talk radio.
