Troopers arrest driver for fleeing accident, leading police on chase to Negaunee

NEGAUNEE, MI--   A driver is lodged in the Marquette County Jail for trying to escape police.

Troopers from the Negaunee Post were notified Saturday around 1 a.m. that a vehicle had fled the scene of an accident in Marquette Township and was westbound on US-41.  Police pursued the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop.

Troopers were able to box the suspect in between two patrol cars and force it to slide sideways.  It came to a stop at the intersection of US-41 and Oak Street in Negaunee.

The driver was taken into custody for fleeing and eluding police and several other charges.  A name will not be released until after arraignment.

Troopers say there were no injuries and only minor damage occurred to the patrol cars.
