Information about Mellen Township break-in, shooting still scarce

MELLEN TOWNSHIP, MI--   Police continue to investigate a fatal shooting during a home invasion in Menominee County Monday.  

The Sheriff’s department says around 5 a.m. a 62-year-old Mellen Township man called 911 to say someone was breaking into his house.  When deputies arrived they found a 19-year-old man dead of multiple gunshot wounds. 

After a search with two K9 units Michigan State Police found two other suspects, 19 and 20 years old.  They could be charged with home invasion, larceny, and breaking and entering.

No names or other details have yet been released. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
