Girl in custody after Negaunee stabbing incident

NEGAUNEE, MI--   Negaunee Police say a teenaged girl stabbed a woman in the city over the weekend.

Sunday around 11 p.m. officers were called to an apartment at 302 West Clark Street.  They learned that a 42-year-old woman had been arguing with a 15-year-old girl when the stabbing happened. 

Officers say everyone in the apartment had been drinking. 

The teen was taken into custody and lodged at the Marquette County Youth Home.  She faces charges of felonious assault, domestic violence, lying to police, and minor in possession of alcohol. 

The victim was taken to U.P. Health System Marquette, treated, and released. 

Ishpeming Police and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
