Shots fired at Ewen house, two arrested

EWEN, MI--   Two Ontonagon County men have been arrested for shooting at a Ewen house with a shotgun.

Troopers from the Wakefield Post say the homeowner was awakened by the sound of pellets on his house and mailbox between 12:30 and 1 a.m. on January 8.  Evidence was collected at the scene.

Three days later another trooper made a traffic stop and observed what appeared to be evidence matching that at the Ewen house in the vehicle.

Michael Gore, 20, of Ewen and Brandon Karianen, 18, of Bruce Crossing were arrested Sunday.  They’re charged with receiving and concealing a firearm, malicious destruction of personal property between $199 and $1,000, reckless use of a firearm, and discharging a firearm in or at a building.

Troopers and the Ontonagon County Sheriff are investigating a possible connection between the suspects and several Ewen and Bruce Crossing camp break-ins the same night.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
