Juveniles arrested for stealing Ishpeming car

OSCEOLA TOWNSHIP, MI--   A vehicle stolen from Ishpeming on Valentine’s Day has been recovered in Houghton County.

On February 15 around 12:30 a.m. troopers from the Calumet Post saw a suspicious vehicle parked behind the Holiday Gas Station in Osceola Township, which was closed.  Troopers encountered four juveniles who had recently escaped from the Great Lakes Recovery Center in Negaunee the night before and took the vehicle, which had been left running to warm up.

Two boys—ages 15 and 16—and two girls—ages 14 and 15—were apprehended for possession of a stolen vehicle.  The 15-year-old boy was also charged with possession of marijuana and suspected meth.

The four were returned to the detention center and face additional charges.  Their names will not be released because of their ages.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
