Boy accused of stealing, crashing car in Gladstone

GLADSTONE, MI--   A Gladstone teen is in custody after he allegedly stole a car and later crashed it. 

Gladstone Public Safety was called Tuesday around 5 p.m. to the 800 block of Delta Avenue on a report of a stolen vehicle.  While investigating the incident officers learned of a car crash on the 2400 block of 3rd Avenue North.  They determined both incidents involved the same vehicle. 

A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody and lodged at the Bay Pines Juvenile Detention Center in Escanaba.  He faces charges of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, assaulting an officer, and malicious destruction of a police vehicle.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
