Woman accused of stealing thousands from Gwinn couple

GWINN, MI--   A Gwinn woman has been arrested for stealing more than $10,000 from an elderly couple.

Forsyth Township Police say Joelene Marvi Johnson, 20, is charged with larceny—$1,000 or more but less than $20,000.

Johnson apparently worked in the couple’s home a couple of days a week for the past month.  The theft was reported last week when the couple discovered money missing from different locations within their home.

Johnson was released from custody on 10 percent of a $5,000 bond.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
