Iron County woman accused of killing baby

IRON RIVER, MI--   An Iron River woman has been arrested in connection with the death of a three-month-old baby. 

Brittany Lyn Russell, 25, was allegedly babysitting at an Iron River residence on June 24 of last year when the baby suffered serious injuries.  The infant died three days later. 

Russell is charged with murder.  She was released on a personal recognizance bond following her arraignment Thursday.

The Iron River Police Department and detectives from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain and Calumet posts are investigating the case. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
