Mellen Township sex offender arrested

MELLEN TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Menominee County man has been arrested for failing to register as a sex offender.

Troopers from the Gladstone Post received a tip that the 44-year-old man left Wisconsin and failed to notify Michigan officials that he was living in Mellen Township.

All sex offenders in Michigan must regularly report to a law enforcement agency.  They must also report any change in address within three days or risk being charged with a four-year felony.

While at the Mellen Township residence troopers discovered another 44-year-old man who had a two-count felony warrant for his arrest for delivery of marijuana.  He was also taken into custody.

Both men are lodged at the Menominee County Jail, pending arraignment.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
