Man gets probation in domestic violence case

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Gwinn man has been sentenced for choking his girlfriend. 

Brandon Strohm, 29, pleaded guilty in April to aggravated domestic violence.  He was accused of trying to strangle the 26-year-old woman during an argument. 

Strohm was sentenced Monday to one year of probation and was ordered to pay more than $1,600 in fines. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
