Suspect breaks ankle fleeing Calumet troopers

LAKE LINDEN, MI--   A 28-year-old man has been arrested in Lake Linden for driving drunk and running from police. 

Wednesday around 1:15 a.m. State Police from the Calumet Post tried to make a traffic stop on the man for careless driving.  The driver took off and attempted to drive down a snowmobile trail at speeds in excess of 60 mph.  Troopers slowed and lost sight of the vehicle for a short distance, but quickly found the vehicle wrecked on the trail.  The driver had fled on foot. 

The MSP canine unit was called in to help search for the driver, who was found soon afterwards with an ankle injury.  He was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital for treatment, then lodged in the Houghton County Jail for operating while impaired-2nd and fleeing and eluding.

The suspect’s name is being withheld, pending arraignment.
