Marquette County man arrested for child torture

MARQUETTE, MI--   A West Branch Township man has been arrested for child abuse and torture.

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post say they investigated a case involving severe injury to a three-month-old baby.  The infant was taken to Motts Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan for treatment.  The victim has been released from the hospital and is in the care of family.

Troopers say Nicholas Racine, 27, is charged with torture and first-degree child abuse.

He remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
