Charges brought in fatal Schaffer accident

ESCANABA, MI--   An 18-year-old Wetmore male has been charged in connection with a fatal Delta County crash.  

The accident happened June 17 in Schaffer. 

Dalton Carll is accused of driving a pickup with six passengers on the Felch Grade Trail and failing to stop at E.5 Road.  The pickup struck a vehicle containing two people driven by John Miron, 29, of Bark River.  Miron was killed.

Carll is charged with reckless driving, causing death; three counts of reckless driving, causing serious impairment of a body function; and  committing a grossly negligent act causing serious injury to an embryo or fetus.

A probable cause hearing is set for October 1.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
