Threatening post blamed for Delta County Courthouse closure

ESCANABA, MI--   A person who posted a threat on social media is what led to the evacuation and lockdown of the Delta County Courthouse last week.

That’s according to Prosecutor Philip Strom, who says police were notified of the post Friday around 11:50 a.m.  Officials felt safety at the building could be in jeopardy and took measures to secure the courthouse.

The subject police believed was responsible for the post was taken into custody and is now in the care of mental health officials.

The case remains under investigation.
