12 drug suspects arrested in Mackinac, Chippewa counties

ST. IGNACE, MI--   The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Taskforce has arrested 12 people, following a lengthy drug investigation in the Eastern U.P.  

Arrest warrants were issued for 15 suspects.  Tri-DENT officers, Mackinac County Sheriff’s deputies, St. Ignace City Police, and Sault Tribal Police arrested eight people in Mackinac County.  Four suspects were apprehended in Chippewa County.  The five women and seven men ranging in age from 23 to 54 years old remain lodged at the Mackinac County Jail, pending arraignment. 

The suspects face a total of 31 charges, including the manufacture, delivery, and possession of drugs like hydrocodone, ecstasy, Adderall, suboxone, and morphine.  They were also arrested on charges of maintaining a drug house, for parole and probation violations, and for being habitual offenders. 

Police say more arrests and charges are expected in the near future.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
